world visioN : overview
World Vision is an International Relief and development
organisation started in 1950 to help children orphaned by war, widows,
the poor and the hungry. We are committed to
meeting their needs regardless of race, colour and religion.
Today, there are over 50 million children in many countries who
lack basic needs like education, health care, adequate food, clean
water and even proper housing.
World Vision focuses on children because they are the best indicator
of a community's social health. When children are fed, sheltered,
schooled, protected, valued and loved, a community thrives.
Through World Vision Child Sponsorship programme, we can stand
alongside parents in the developing world as they struggle to care
for their children. World Vision pools gifts from sponsors to provide
services and other resources not available in the community to enable
the people to organise and implement plans and programmes that meet
their needs as a community. Some of the programmes include setting
up schools, immunisation of children against common diseases and
finding sources of clean water.
You can help communities around the world by making a decision
today!
